The escalating global health crisis due to COVID-19 is obviously causing a lot of concern not only for public health, but the economy and employees wages also so we wanted to address the measures being taken here at Simpsons Butchers.
As ever, the wellbeing of Simpsons Butchers customers, staff and brand partners is a primary concern of ours. We can confirm Simpsons Butchers are taking all necessary steps to follow the World Health Organisation and local authorities’ guidelines, implementing strict hygiene controls throughout our business.
We’re stepping up our already high standard hygiene routines. Extra sanitisation stations are being installed throughout the premises of each store and staff will be able to work at a distance from one another, breaks will be taken separately and staff will be given an extra 5 minutes to clean down after themselves before the next member uses the facilities.
Staff members have all been reminded of the importance of keeping good hygiene around the premises. And additional clean downs will take place daily.
Currently no employees are showing any signs of illness and we will be continually monitoring the health of all staff members for any signs of symptoms.
We are assured similar controls are being put in place by our nominated shipping partner, APC. All deliveries will be operating as normal and there are no changes at this time. Drivers are equipped with hand sanitiser and wash their hands as frequently as is necessary. Vehicles are cleaned thoroughly and subject to regular checks to ensure they achieve the desired levels of cleanliness.
Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. We are informed that these types of viruses don’t survive long on objects, such as packages.
This complements the highly publicised guidance from PHE for people to wash their hands more often than usual using soap and hot water.
In order to protect both our delivery drivers and customers as much as possible, we will not be handing over packages directly. Delivery drivers will instead place your delivery at your door.
Having knocked on your door, your driver will then step aside to a safe distance while you retrieve your item. This will ensure your item is delivered securely rather than being left outside (unless you have requested that we leave it in a safe place).
We don’t currently anticipate any supply chain or production issues as a result of the outbreak, and see no indication that we’ll have any problems supplying our customers.
What’s most important at this time is that we all look out for one another, particularly the most vulnerable in society and reduce the strain on emergency services and our NHS by following WHO advice.
